VIREMIE

The team’s work targets various animal and/or zoonotic respiratory viruses. Its research themes include both surveillance projects and projects aimed at understanding the mechanisms of infection or co-infection of poultry and cattle, with the emphasis on studying the associated host response.

The aim is to contribute to our understanding of virus-host interactions, viral emergence and, more generally, the evolution of viruses of interest.

Various approaches and methods are used in these projects to understand viral evolution and characterize interactions between viruses and hosts, and even between co-infecting pathogens.

Our main axes are:

  • EVOLUTION: AIV LP to HP, from animal to zoonosis, impact of vaccination
  • EMERGENCE: surveillance of avian and bovine respiratory viruses
  • PATHOGENESIS and TRANSMISSION (avian/cattle/human hosts, in vitro-ex vivo-in vivo)
